Creating, Editing, & Deleting a Material Class or Subclass

Creating a material class
VERSION NOTE:
This article reflects Tempo v6.5.X. If you are using an earlier version, skip step 1, then hover over the left navigation panel.
- From the left navigation panel, click cloud Tempo.
- Click Materials > Classes/Subclasses. The Material Classes/Subclasses list displays.
- Click Create new > Material Class.
- Enter a Name for the material class.
- (OPTIONAL) Select or enter the information in the additional fields:
- Description: The description for the material class.
- Statuses: Select any statuses that are relevant to this material class.NOTE:
If the necessary status has not yet been created, a user may return to the material class later to add a status. Once a user attaches a status to a material class, any material definitions with that class inherit the attached status. For additional information about statuses, refer to the Statuses Overview article.
- Click Add. The Custom Properties tab displays.
Adding custom properties
The Custom Properties tab allows users to attach specific attributes to the material class. For more information on custom properties, refer to the Material Class & Subclass Overview article.
- From the material class or subclass detail page, click the Custom Properties tab.
- Click Add. The Add Custom Property dialog displays.
- Select or enter the information in the required fields:
- Name: The name of the custom property.
- Input Type: The input type of the custom property. Options include Boolean, Date, Measure, and String. Additional fields may display depending upon the input type selected; complete any additional required fields.
- (OPTIONAL) Select or enter the information in the additional fields.
- Description: The description of the custom property.
- Default Value: The default value of the custom property. Displays after the selection of an input type.
- To prevent another user from entering an alternate input type or default value, enable the Locked toggle; otherwise, leave the toggle disabled.
- Click Add.
Creating a material subclass

- From the left navigation panel, click cloud Tempo.
- Click Materials > Classes/Subclasses. The Material Classes/Subclasses list displays.
- Click Create new > Material Subclass.
Users can also create a new subclass by locating the class they want to attach a subclass to, then clicking Add New Subclass from the Actions column.
- Select or enter the information in the required fields:
- Material Class: The associated material class for this subclass.
- Name: The name of the material subclass.
- (OPTIONAL) Select or enter the information in the additional fields:
- Description: The description for the material subclass.
- Statuses: Select any statuses that are relevant to this material subclass.NOTE:
If the necessary status has not yet been created, a user may return to the material subclass later to add a status. Once a user attaches a status to a material subclass, any material definitions with that subclass inherit the attached status. For additional information about statuses, refer to the Statuses Overview article.)
- Click Add. The Custom Properties tab displays.
- Complete any relevant steps in the Adding custom properties section above.
Editing a material class or subclass

- From the left navigation panel, click cloud Tempo.
- Click Materials > Classes/Subclasses. The Material Classes/Subclasses list displays.
- Locate and select the material class or subclass you want to modify.
- Complete the desired changes from the Material Class/Subclass Info and/or Custom Properties tabs.
VERSION NOTE:
In Tempo v6.5 and subsequent versions, the Name field becomes read-only and cannot be changed once a material class and/or subclass has been created in the system. - Click Save.
Deleting a material class or subclass
VERSION NOTE:
This article reflects Tempo v6.5.X. If you are using an earlier version, skip step 1, then hover over the left navigation panel.
Any subclasses for a specific material class must be deleted prior to deleting that class.
- From the left navigation panel, click cloud Tempo.
- Click Materials > Classes/Subclasses. The Material Classes/Subclasses list displays.
- Locate and select the material class or subclass you want to delete.
- Click delete Delete.
- Enter your system Email, Password (or PIN), and a Comment, then click Delete.
