Creating & Managing Batch Parameter Groups

Parameters can be added to draft procedure templates to provide flexibility at the batch level.
Batch parameter groups allow specific sets of parameter values for a specific batch template to be saved, managed, approved, and applied as a group. This reduces the number of recipes and configuration time required, while also reducing the opportunity for parameter data entry errors in a batch run.
Once a batch parameter group has been locked and made effective, it can be applied to a batch run that has not yet been started. When applied, the group overrides all of the parameter values set within the batch. (If circumstances require, the values from the group can also be overridden.)
- For additional information about parameters, review the Adding Dynamic Content: Parameters & Constants article.
- For additional information about batch runs, review the Starting a Batch Run article.
Batch parameter groups are tied to a specific batch template version. A batch parameter group must be created based on an effective batch template that has parameters in one or more procedures.
This article is composed of the following topics:
- Creating a batch parameter group
- Editing parameter values in a batch parameter group
- Submitting a batch parameter group for review and approval
- Reviewing or approving a batch parameter group

Submitting a batch parameter group for review and approval
If review and approval is not required for a batch parameter group, this functionality is not available.
- Complete the steps in the sections above, or navigate to the relevant draft batch parameter group for which you are an author (cloud Tempo > Batches > Parameter Groups > batch parameter group name).
- Click Next Step in the top right corner of the page, then select Submit for Review. The Submit for Review dialog displays.
- Select the relevant Parameter Review Groups and/or Parameter Review Users, then click Submit. Selected reviewers will receive an email notifying them that the batch parameter group is ready for review.
If reviewers identify necessary changes, a batch parameter group author may navigate to the relevant batch parameter group and click Next Step in the top right corner of the page, then select the Send back to Draft button to send the template back to the editable draft stage.
- Once review is complete, navigate to the relevant batch parameter group and click Next Step in the top right corner of the page, then select the Submit for Approval button. The Submit for Approval dialog displays.
- Enter a Message and select the Individuals responsible for signing, then click Submit. Selected approvers will receive an email notifying them that the batch parameter group is ready for approval.
If approvers identify necessary changes, a batch parameter group author may navigate to the relevant batch parameter group and click Next Step in the top right corner of the page, then select the Send back to Draft button to send the template back to the editable draft stage.
Reviewing or approving a batch parameter group
- On a Google Chrome web browser, locate and open the Review or Approve email in your inbox. Click the Review Parameter Group or Approve Parameter Group button to log in and open the parameter group in the Tempo web application.
- Review the information on all batch parameter group tabs, then follow your organization's process for review or approval.
- (APPROVAL ONLY) To sign and approve a parameter group, select Next Step in the top right corner of the page, then locate your name in the Required Approval Signatures section of the Parameter Group Details page. Click Sign & Approve, provide your credentials and comment, then click Approve to approve the parameter group.
Duplicating a batch parameter group
For cases where it would be easier to duplicate an existing batch parameter group for a specific batch template version rather than starting from the parameter values on the batch template, the system supports duplicating a batch parameter group.
- Navigate to the relevant batch parameter group (cloud Tempo > Batches > Parameter Groups > batch parameter group name).
- Click more_vert More Options > Duplicate Parameter Group. The Duplicate Parameter Group dialog displays.
- Complete all relevant required and optional fields in the Duplicate Parameter Group dialog, then click Save. The new duplicate batch parameter group displays.
