When creating a procedure template within Tempo, procedure authors can use the Link SOP feature (called Link Procedure in v6.5.X) to provide operators with access to the most up-to-date version of a separate standard operating procedure (SOP) while they are executing the original procedure.

When executing the original procedure, the Link SOP feature provides operators with access to the linked SOP from:

  • The Link SOP (Linked Procedures) list within iOS or web execution.
  • Any step within the original procedure that references the linked SOP using the Link SOP (Link Procedure) process action.

If an operator taps or clicks the Link SOP (Link Procedure) process action while executing the original procedure, the linked SOP opens in a new tab as a separate procedure run. An operator does not need to be assigned to execute the linked SOP separately in order to access or execute the linked SOP during the execution of the original assigned procedure run.

USE CASE:

Apprentice designed the Link SOP feature to provide convenient access to the latest version of a reusable, auxiliary SOP. This feature is designed to support customer use cases that require flexibility and up-to-date information. Use of this feature includes the following benefits and limitations:

  • Linked SOPs do not lock when the original procedure template reaches the effective stage or when batch or template execution begins.
    • The system always provides access to the latest effective version of the SOP available.
    • If an operator taps or clicks the link procedure process action while executing the original procedure, the system creates a separate procedure run based on the latest effective version of the SOP at the time of that specific action.
  • Steps, exceptions, and other data points within a linked SOP run are not directly included within the original procedure run (or directly included within a batch run, if the original procedure run occurs within a batch run).
    • Once an operator taps or clicks to open a linked SOP, the linked SOP run is recorded in the system as a separate procedure run.
    • Linked SOP runs can be accessed from the Link Procedure process action in the relevant step in the relevant procedure, if applicable.
  • Linked SOP runs do not enforce operator completion of the SOP, even if the original procedure includes a link procedure process action.

The Link SOP feature was designed to support operator SOP reference for auxiliary SOPs like the following:

  • Equipment cleaning
  • Room clearance
  • Cell passage

As a general guideline, the Link SOP feature is not designed for and does not support any use in which data collected or exceptions logged during the linked SOP run can impact the results of the original procedure run. Additionally, a linked SOP within a batch run does not adhere to the version associated with an effective batch template or batch run, and instead adheres to its own latest effective version.

Alternatively, a procedure author may:

  • Add additional steps to the original procedure template (MES, LES, AWI)
  • Add the additional procedure to a unit operation within the same batch run as the original procedure (MES-only)

Note that some procedure and batch template configurations (for example, Enforce Sequentiality, Not Applicable Enabled, Must Complete All Steps In This Procedure) can impact the experience that operators have while executing the original procedure or batch run.

It is the responsibility of the customer to determine which of their specific use cases the Link SOP feature can support and which should be handled through an alternate means.
