Apprentice offers customers the option to “bring your own device” as opposed to leveraging Apprentice-managed devices. The BYOD option makes it easy for customers to set up and manage their own devices.
Things to consider when evaluating the BYOD option:
Does your organization have an Apple Business Manager (ABM) account?
- If yes, BYOD would be best.
How structured is your manufacturing schedule?
- If the schedule is strict, it is best to consider BYOD.
What are your organization's compliance standards regarding external devices?(https://www.apple.com/ipad-pro/specs/)
How are your networks configured?
How do your employees access internal networks?
How do your employees log-in?
Pre-requisites:
Devices must be Apple iPad Pro to best support speed and all augmented-reality features
11 inch size is ideal
If a clean-room certified device is required select this case
Must purchase all devices through the ABM e-Commerce Portal
Must have a registered business account with Apple Business Manager (ABM) account
WiFi
Camera access
Process:
- Provide Apprentice with the following information from your ABM organization settings:
Note: If you do not know this information, you can reach out to your ABM representative.
Organization ID
Legal name of the organization (must be EXACTLY as written in those settings, including all punctuation)
Must ensure that your ABM organization is set up to receive custom applications
Must verify that your MDM supports customer application configuration
- Once this information is provided, Apprentice will push the Tempo app directly to the your ABM. From there you will follow the normal app deployment process managed by your MDM.
