Powering the headset on and off

The power button for Apprentice-powered headsets can be found on the side of the headset.

  • To power the headset on, press and hold the Power button for 3-5 seconds. A tone plays. The device's home page displays by default.
  • To power the headset off, press and hold the Power button for 3-5 seconds. A brief tone plays and "Shutting Down..." displays on the screen.

At times, the Power button displays as green, yellow, or red to provide information to the headset operator:

  • Green indicates that the device battery is fully charged.
  • Yellow indicates that the device battery is actively charging and has not yet reached full charge.
  • Red indicates that the device battery is extremely low and the device may be unusable until charged.

Activating Sleep Mode

  1. While the headset is on, press the Power button located on the side of the headset device once.
  2. To wake the headset device, press the Power button again.
NOTE:

If the headset is not responding, say "My Controls," then "Power Options." A list of Power Options displays. Say "Sleep Now" to activate.

Charging the headset

The Apprentice-powered RealWear HMT-1 device can be charged using a micro-USB or USB-C charging cable.
The Apprentice-powered RealWear HMT-1Z1 (ATEX-rated) can be charged using a micro-USB cable.

  • To access the micro-USB port, open the flap on the left side of the device.
  • (HMT-1 only) To access the USB-C port, open the flap on the right side of the device.

Battery multi-charger unit (accessory for HMT-1 only)

The battery multi-charger unit (compatible with the Apprentice-powered RealWear HMT-1 device) charges up to six batteries at a time.

WARNINGS:
  • Do not charge batteries with third-party chargers.
  • Power the charger using only the charging cable included with the battery multi-charger unit.
  1. Align the battery contacts with the charger contacts, with the contacts facing down.
  2. Insert the battery, contact side first, into the charging compartment.
  3. Once the charging contacts are seated properly, press the battery down to secure it in place.
  4. A red light appears next to the battery contact for a charging battery when it is connected, and the display indicates the current charge levels of each battery. The light turns green once the battery is fully charged.
  5. As a best practice, remove batteries after charging to ensure the optimal life of batteries and charger.

Changing the headset battery during use (HMT-1 only)

The Apprentice-powered RealWear HMT-1 device battery can be changed while the headset is in use.

  • When the device displays a Low Battery warning, an operator has the option to dismiss the warning or swap the battery.
  • At any time, operators have the option to say "My Controls, then Power Options, then Hotswap.
  1. From the Low Battery warning or the Hotswap control option, say "Start Swap."
  2. Open the battery housing flap on the left side of the device.
  3. To remove the battery, unscrew the cap by turning it counter-clockwise, then pull it out of the housing unit.

  4. To replace, align and insert a fully-charged battery into the housing unit.
  5. Secure the cap by turning it clockwise.
  6. Firmly close the battery housing flap.
  7. Press the Power button.

Changing your password will log you out immediately. Use the new password to log back in.
