VERSION NOTE:
This article provides information pertaining to the HMT-1 and HMT-1Z1 headsets supported in Tempo/Tandem v6.5.X. For information about the Navigator 500 series headset supported in Tempo v7.1.X+, review the Headset Overview (Navigator 500 Series) article.

Follow the steps below to learn how to wear and adjust the Apprentice-powered headset for optimal comfort.

  1. Press and hold the power button on the side of the headset device for 3-5 seconds until you hear a tone. For more information on powering on the headset, refer to the Powering the Headset On and Off article.
  2. Apprentice provides Apprentice-powered headsets with a cleanroom ready, silicone tri-band. Position the tri-band vertically so it rests over the top of your head, just above the ears.
NOTES:
  • The device is configured for individuals with a dominant right eye, but this can be changed for users with a dominant left eye. For more information about eye dominance, refer to the following RealWare support article: Determining Eye Dominance (external link)
  • You may need to tighten the tri-band straps if the headset hangs too low on your head.
  1. Bend the headset's boom arm until it forms a "Z" as shown below. The micro-display on the boom arm should be close to the center of your face, just below your dominant eye.

  1. Adjust the micro-display by loosening the lock ring (ridged dial between the boom arm and micro-display). Tilt and rotate the display until all four corners of the screen are visible.
  2. Tighten the lock ring when you have a comfortable view of the micro-display screen.
