System administrators have the ability to copy certain resource information from their development environment to their validation environment, or from their validation environment to their production environment.
The following user, location, and resource information can be transferred:
- User Groups
- Locations
- Statuses
- Materials
- Equipment
- Sample classes and subclasses (requires LES)
- Array classes and subclasses (requires LES)
- While the system permits the transfer of resources in any order and the specific needs of your organization may differ, the order listed above is a general best practice for transferring user, location, and resource information.
- Any location and resource information that is included in a procedure template can automatically transfer from one environment to another as part of the batch or procedure template transfer. User group information must be transferred using the transfer tool described in this article.
In order to successfully copy and transfer the resource information, system admins must complete the steps in both sections of this article. Review the sections below to learn how to initiate, review, and import a resource transfer in the Tempo web application.
This article covers the following topics:
- System admins can copy resource data from a source environment (e.g., a test or development environment) into a destination environment (e.g., a validation environment) while logged into the destination environment.
- The system admin must input their login and password credentials for the source environment into the login fields as part of this process.
- Direct SSO access to the source environment is not supported.
- When resources such as materials and equipment are imported, information related to those specific resources (e.g., class, subclass, locations, statuses, etc.) is also imported.
- Once a resource has been transferred, it cannot be transferred again to the same destination system, even if changes have been made to the resource in the source system.
Initiating a resource transfer
- From the left navigation panel, click settings Platform.
- Click Transfers.
- Click New Transfer. The New Transfer dialog displays.
- Enter the required information in the New Transfer fields.
- Environment: Enter the source environment URL within your organization that you want to copy the data from (e.g., https://client-dev.apprentice.io/).
- Entity: Select the resource that you want to copy to the destination environment. Only one resource can be selected at a time.
- (OPTIONAL) Description: Enter a brief description that includes the details of the transfer.
- Email: Enter the email address that is associated with the source environment that you are copying the information from.
- Password: Enter the password for the above email address that is associated with the source environment.
- Click Submit. The resource transfer displays in the Transfers list with an Active status.
Reviewing and importing a resource transfer
After initiating a resource transfer, the information available for transfer can be accessed for one hour via the Transfers page. After one hour, the transfer expires and is no longer accessible in the destination environment.
- Locate and select the resource transfer you previously initiated from the Transfers list.
- Review the transferred information, then select the checkbox next to the resource(s) you want to import to the destination environment.
More than one resource can be selected at a time.
- Click Import Selected (#). The Confirm Transfer dialog displays.
- Enter the Password associated with the email address for the source environment.
- Click Submit. The Transfer Results dialog displays, which includes the resource details that were successfully imported.
- (OPTIONAL) Click Expand All to view the resource details. To print the resource information, click Print.
- Click close Close to return to the previous window.
