*PACKAGE NOTE:
Although parameters and constants are available within procedure authoring for MES, LES, and AWI packages, parameters have limited utility outside of batches. Batch functionality is only available to customers who subscribe to the MES package as part of their Tempo Manufacturing Cloud system.
Dynamic content refers to any parameters and constants that are added to a procedure template draft and referenced as part of procedure or batch execution.
- Parameters can be used to specify the values for a particular batch run when using the same procedure for multiple products, variations, or iterations.
- Parameters can be referenced anywhere in a procedure where input is required (e.g., material quantity). A procedure author can set default values for these parameters, which can also be overridden at the batch level (if applicable).
- Constants can be added to a procedure template draft; these are values that never change during execution.
- Constants can be referenced in the formula action during procedure template creation.
This article is composed of the following topics:
Prior to completing the steps in any of the sections below, create or open the relevant draft procedure template in the Tempo web app. (To learn more about locating procedure templates in the Tempo web app, review the Procedure Templates Overview article.)
- To edit a procedure template, it must be in the Draft stage.
- Only the user who created a procedure template and any users assigned as a procedure co-author can edit a procedure template.
- While procedure authors may define parameters at the procedure template level, the parameter default value can only be overridden as part of planning a batch run (if applicable).
- Parameters used outside of a batch run must include a default value.
Adding a parameter to a procedure template
- From the draft procedure template, click Dynamic Content > Parameters.
- Click Add parameter. The Add Parameter dialog displays.
- Select or enter the information in the required fields:
- Parameter name: The name of the parameter, used for reference during procedure authoring.
- Parameter type: The type of parameter.
- Options include Text, Measure, Numeric, and Two Choice. You may be prompted to complete additional fields depending on the parameter type selected.
- Parameter ID: The unique ID of the constant, used for reference during procedure authoring.
- Condition: Any condition for acceptable values that should be assigned to the parameter.
- Options include None, Value(s), Range, Greater than, Less than, Greater than or equal to, and Less than or equal to. You may be prompted to complete additional fields depending on the condition selected.
Conditions are applied during execution as specified and cannot be overridden on a batch run.
- (OPTIONAL**) Select or enter the information in the optional field:
- Default value: The default value of the parameter.
Parameters used outside of a batch run must include a default value and cannot be overridden.
- Click Add Parameter. The new parameter displays on the Parameters tab.
- To edit a parameter, click the parameter name on the Dynamic Content > Parameters tab. The Edit Parameter dialog displays. Make any necessary edits, then click Update Parameter.
- To delete a parameter, locate the parameter name on the Dynamic Content > Parameters tab, then click the Remove icon that displays to the right in that row.
Adding a constant to a procedure template
- From the draft procedure template, click Dynamic Content > Constants.
- Click Add constant. The Add Constant dialog displays.
- Select or enter the information in the required fields:
- Constant name: The name of the constant.
- Constant type: The type of constant.
- Options include Text, Measure, Numeric, and Two Choice. You may be prompted to complete additional fields depending on the constant type selected.
- Constant ID: The unique ID of the constant.
- Default value: The value of the constant.
- Click Add Constant. The new constant displays on the Constants tab.
- To edit a constant, click the constant name on the Dynamic Content > Constants tab. The Edit Constant dialog displays. Make any necessary edits, then click Update Constant.
- To delete a constant, locate the constant name on the Dynamic Content > Constants tab, then click the Remove icon that displays to the right in that row.
