Creating, Editing & Deleting an Equipment Class or Subclass

Creating an equipment class

VERSION NOTE:
This article reflects Tempo v6.5. If you are using an earlier version, skip step 1, then hover over the left navigation panel.

  1. From the left navigation panel, click cloud Tempo.
  2. Click Equipment > Classes/Subclasses. The Equipment Classes/Subclasses list displays.
  3. Click Create new > Equipment Class.
  4. Enter a Name for the equipment class.
  5. (OPTIONAL) Select or enter the information in the additional fields:
    • Description: The description for the equipment class.
    • Statuses: Select any statuses that are relevant to this equipment class.
      NOTE:

      If the necessary status has not yet been created, a user may return to the equipment class later to add a status. Once a user attaches a status to an equipment class, any equipment instances with that class inherit the attached status. For additional information about statuses, refer to the Statuses Overview article.)

  6. (OPTIONAL) Select any relevant Equipment Class Configuration toggles for this equipment class.
  1. (OPTIONAL) Select any relevant Standard Properties toggles for this equipment class. The Edit Default Attribute Property dialog displays.
    1. If applicable, enter a Default Value for the property.
    2. To prevent another user from entering an alternate value, enable the Locked toggle; otherwise, leave the toggle disabled.
    3. To enable the property, click Save.
NOTE:

For more information about standard properties, refer to the Standard Properties section of the Equipment Class & Subclass Overview article.

  1. Click Add. The Custom Properties and Triggers tabs display.

Adding custom properties

The Custom Properties tab allows users to attach specific attributes (outside of the standard properties) to the equipment class or subclass. For more information on custom properties, refer to the Equipment Class & Subclass Overview article.

  1. From the equipment class or subclass detail page, click the Custom Properties tab.
  2. Click Add. The Add Custom Property dialog displays.
  3. Select or enter the information in the required fields:
    • Name: The name of the custom property.
    • Input Type: The input type of the custom property. Options include Boolean, Date, Measure, and String. Additional fields may display depending upon the input type selected; complete any additional required fields.
  4. (OPTIONAL) Select or enter the information in the additional fields.
    • Description: The description of the custom property.
    • Default Value: The default value of the custom property. Displays after the selection of an input type.
  5. To prevent another user from entering an alternate input type or default value, enable the Locked toggle; otherwise, leave the toggle disabled.
  6. Click Add.

Adding equipment triggers

The Triggers tab allows users to add triggers to the equipment class or subclass, which automatically changes the stage of an equipment instance to keep the item clean, calibrated, and ready for use. For more information on equipment triggers, refer to the Equipment Class & Subclass Overview article.

  1. From the equipment class or subclass detail page, click the Triggers tab.
  2. Click Add. The Add Trigger dialog displays.
  3. Select or enter the information in the required fields:
    • Trigger Type: The type of trigger to add to the equipment class or subclass. Options include Timer, Counter, and Recurring. Additional fields may display depending on the Trigger Type that is selected; complete any additional fields.
      • Timer: Triggers a stage change after an allotted amount of time has passed.
      • Counter: Triggers a stage change after the equipment has been used X amounts of time.
      • Recurring: Triggers a stage change that repeats after an allotted amount of time has passed.
    • Status: The status to associate with this equipment trigger. The Stage and On Trigger Complete fields display.
    • Stage: The stage that uses this equipment trigger.
    • On trigger complete: The stage the status will be set to when the trigger is activated.
  4. Review or complete the field(s) associated with the previously-selected Trigger Type (e.g., Quantity, Repeat Every, Trigger After.)
  5. Click Add.

Creating an equipment subclass

  1. From the left navigation panel, click cloud Tempo.
  2. Click Equipment > Classes/Subclasses. The Equipment Classes/Subclasses list displays.
  3. Click Create new > Equipment Subclass.
TIP:

Users can also create a new subclass by locating the class they want to attach a subclass to, then clicking Add New Subclass from the Actions column.

  1. Select or enter the information in the required fields:
    • Equipment Class: The associated equipment class for this subclass.
    • Name: The name of the equipment subclass.
  2. (OPTIONAL) Select or enter the information in the additional fields:
    • Description: The description for the equipment subclass.
    • Statuses: Select any statuses that are relevant to this equipment subclass.
      NOTE:

      If the necessary status has not yet been created, a user may return to the equipment subclass later to add a status. Once a user attaches a status to an equipment subclass, any equipment instances with that subclass inherit the attached status. For additional information about statuses, refer to the Statuses Overview article.)

  3. Click Add. The Custom Properties and Triggers tabs display.
  4. Complete any relevant steps in the Adding custom properties and Adding equipment triggers sections above.

Editing an equipment class or subclass

VERSION NOTE:
This article reflects Tempo v6.5. If you are using an earlier version, skip step 1, then hover over the left navigation panel.

  1. From the left navigation panel, click cloud Tempo.
  2. Click Equipment > Classes/Subclasses. The Equipment Classes/Subclasses list displays.
  3. Locate and select the equipment class or subclass you want to modify.
  4. Complete the desired changes from the Equipment Class/Subclass Info, Custom Properties, and/or Triggers tabs.
    VERSION NOTE:
    In Tempo v6.5 and subsequent versions, the Name field becomes read-only and cannot be changed once an equipment class and/or subclass has been created in the system.
  5. Click Save.

Deleting an equipment class or subclass

VERSION NOTE:
This article reflects Tempo v6.5. If you are using an earlier version, skip step 1, then hover over the left navigation panel.

NOTE:

Any subclasses for a specific equipment class must be deleted prior to deleting that class.

  1. From the left navigation panel, click cloud Tempo.
  2. Click Equipment > Classes/Subclasses. The Equipment Classes/Subclasses list displays.
  3. Locate and select the equipment class or subclass you want to delete.
  4. Click delete Delete.
  5. Enter your system Email, Password (or PIN), and a Comment, then click Delete.
