Understanding CSV Import/Export

As part of initial system setup or at any point that a customer's process requires, information about certain resources can be imported into or exported from a customer system using CSV import and export tools.

NOTE:

The system also includes specific transfer tools that assist customers in transferring resources and templates among customer environments. These tools can be used to transfer resources and templates from a customer's development environment to their validation environment, or from their validation environment to their production environment.

The following location, resource, user, and log information can be imported or exported as CSV files:

Locations & resources

  • Locations
  • Statuses
  • Equipment classes, subclasses, and instances
  • Material classes, subclasses, definitions, lots, and sublots
  • Sample classes and subclasses (requires LES; System Admin & Content Creator only)
  • Array classes and subclasses (export only) (requires LES; System Admin & Content Creator only)

Users & devices

  • Users (import only)
  • User groups (export only) (System Admin & Supervisory only)
  • Devices (export only) (System Admin & Supervisory only)

Exceptions

  • Exceptions (export only) (System Admin & Supervisory only)

System logs

  • Tandem call logs (export only)
  • Creation logs (export only)
  • User change logs (export only)
  • Label logs (export only)
  • Signature logs (export only)
  • Integration logs (export only)
  • Event logs (export only)

Importing information using a CSV file

  1. Navigate to the page for the type of user, location, or resource information that you would like to import using one of the navigation paths below:
    • settings Platform >
      • Locations
      • Statuses
      • Users
    • cloud Tempo >
      • Equipment > Classes/Subclasses
      • Equipment > Equipment Instances
      • Materials > Classes/Subclasses
      • Materials > Materials Definitions (for material definitions, lots, and sublots)
      • Samples > Classes/Subclasses
  2. Click the more_horiz More Options icon located in the upper right corner of the page, then locate the relevant Import from CSV option. The Import from CSV dialog displays.
  3. Click the CSV template link. The CSV template downloads to your device.
  4. Open the CSV template on your device, then add the information you wish to import based on the example formatting provided for each column. Remove the examples and save the file to your device as a CSV.
NOTES:
  • The CSV import format may differ from the CSV export format, if applicable. Ensure all data are formatted for CSV import prior to importing a file.
  • Do not make any formatting modifications to the template.
  • When importing users, please make sure that the email addresses are in lowercase. Using uppercase letters will cause authentication errors when users receive a signup email.
  • Ensure the file you are uploading is saved as a CSV file. No other file types are supported.
  1. Upload the CSV file on the web app by clicking Choose File then selecting the applicable file.
  2. Click Submit. The information uploads to the system.
  3. (OPTIONAL) From the user, location, or resource page, locate the imported information from the list. Click the item name to review or make any further modifications to its details, if desired, then click Save.

Exporting information as a CSV file

  1. Navigate to the page for the type of user, location, or resource information that you would like to import using one of the navigation paths below:

      • Devices
    • cloud Tempo >
      • Equipment > Classes/Subclasses
      • Equipment > Equipment Instances
      • Materials > Classes/Subclasses
      • Materials > Materials Definitions (for material definitions, lots, and sublots)
      • Samples > Classes/Subclasses
      • Arrays > Classes/Subclasses
      • Exceptions
    • Business Intelligence >
      • Tandem Call Logs
      • Creation Logs
      • User Change Logs
      • Label Logs
      • Signature Logs
      • Integration Logs
      • Event Logs
    1. Click the more_horiz More Options icon located in the upper right corner of the page, then locate the relevant Export to CSV option. The CSV file downloads to your device.
